It’s done and I’m in!

There’s still work to do on the landscaping, and I have a few things I want to add (curtains and bar stools etc), but I am in, and it’s great!

Drainage and septic system done

Most of the external work is now done. We’re just waiting on the garage door to arrive so it can be installed. But the house should be completely finished the week after Easter. So it’s a week late, but I’m not complaining.

The home stretch

We are down to the final weeks now. There is still a bit of work for the plumbers and the painters need to just do some touchups. The garage door should be going on within the next week. And then it’s the cleaning before I move in! Yipeee!!

Work on the inside

It’s getting very close now. It’s starting to come together. The internal shelving is done. Once the door handles and plumbing stuff is done the flooring will be done, by which stage the drainage and septic should have started.

The garish blue steel and green door are gone. In its place is the nice wallaby coloured steel work and eucalyptus green door.
The back door and steel work matches the cladding.

Bathroom and kitchen cabinets

The cabinets are in the bathroom, kitchen and laundry. I’m really happy with the shelving and cupboards beside where the fridge will be going. I should get a finish date in the next few weeks, so things are really progressing now.

My new kitchen!

The internal fit-out has started. These photos don’t really show how the colours will all work together, but you get a sense of the layout. Once the walls are painted and the flooring is done it will look great. It’s going to be good sized kitchen with plenty of bench space and storage.

It’s performing well already

I have visited the property on two occasions when the temperature has been about 35o C. Each time, inside the house has been noticeably cooler, compared to the outside temperature. This is without any cooling being installed and with all the windows and doors open. So the white roof and the insulation are all working well.

The pictures below show the completed cornices. Hopefully the build will continue to progress as the new year progresses.

The cladding at the front is now done

The cladding is now all but finished. The remainder will be finished when the stone work between the front door and the garage is done and the garage door is installed. Below are some photos showing the front and how the house sits on the property.

A big leap forward just in time for Christmas

Most of the cladding has been done. The cladding at the front will be completed when the garage door goes in and the stone work between the front door and the garage is done. The plaster boards up inside, so you can get a much better idea of what it will be like inside. It is yet to have the finishing touches added, but it is looking good nonetheless.

It’s very exciting watching it start to take shape!

More work

After a break in the rain, there’s been a bit of movement at the block. The protective railing around the roof has been removed, work has been done on the front verandah and work has also commenced on the electrics inside.

The windows are in!

The windows are in, except for the big sliding window. Hopefully this means that the external walls will be done soon. The roof should be completed the verandah at the front door is completed.

The roof is half on

Well things are still progressing. The roof is half on now, so it won’t be long till it’s fully on!

The trusses have been put on and the frame for the garage has also been done. So the house really is taking shape.
