Gabrielle Stephenson’s doubts about her career as a detective are brought into stark relief after she begins investigating the death of Elizabeth Stafford in a hotel room in Sydney’s inner city. The investigation takes her not just into the beautiful Southern Highlands in NSW, but also back to her troubled childhood in her quest to discover how Elizabeth died. Set in the bustle of a busy detectives office, Gabrielle must not only confront her own past, but also accompany Elizabeth’s family as they confront theirs. This story explores our relationships with our significant others and how they affect those in our orbit, including our pets.
